Going crazy since 2004…

Time for the monthly update..

That’s how it seems to go! But we’re gearing up for a busy holiday season so I thought I would do an update as we go into it. Here’s the schedule:

Halloween: Coming up weekend after next. By then we’ll have had our BIG ultrasound and will have made a FREAKING HUGE step towards the financial goal we have for the next year. So we’ll be feeling less weighed down financially and will know if we’re having a Boy Bunny or a Girl Bunny (we’re due the week before Easter). Cate is going to be a lady bug. Grace has a Snow White costume but who knows what she’ll actually wear! She may end up being Supergirl again. We’re still considering where to go trick-or-treating at but we’re leaning towards our new neighborhood here because it’s adorable! And it will be the first time since we moved here where a nice kid-friendly neighborhood is within walking distance.

Thanksgiving: We’ll be spending that here. Just the 4.5 of us. We’re going to roast a chicken. But I will be brining it to get brining practice. Then we’ll do scale down versions of the meal. I’ll mash just one potato, make a casserole with just ONE sweet potato..etc. I’ll probably still buy a pumpkin pie. Unless I decide to buy a can of pumpkin and make one small pie OR maybe some miniature pies since I’ve seen those on some recipe sites. That would be kind of fun. We’ll see. Or I’ll make a small pie and then some kind of bread/cookies with the rest of the pumpkin mix. Either way, will be our quiet, intimate holiday of the year before things fast-forward in December.

Early December: I AM taking the girls to Disneyland come hell or high water. The only up in the air thing at this point is what 2nd adult is coming with me. lol. And the dates. If my mom comes I think I want to do during the week. If I end up having to make Chris come with us we’ll do a weekend. Which I would love to avoid but we’ll see. I cannot wait! I remember Disneyland at Christmas time from a random trip I took there with a girl-friend nearly 10 years ago and I just can’t wait to share that magic with the girls. I know that Cate may not remember it.. but she’ll have the pictures (let’s just hope I remember the camera this time, since the last time we went to Disneyland with the girls we left all the cameras at home). This will be the last year we can go before the crowds of families flock after school gets out for the holidays.. since Grace starts kindergarten in the fall. So I’m anxious to make it happen this year.

Christmas: ARIZONA baby! I cannot wait! I used to think it was odd that you could have a major holiday meal (Tgiving or Christmas) by the pool but since I’ve left that, I miss it so much! I’m a desert girl through and through. We’re heading south the week before Christmas as long as nothing comes up with Chris at work. He’ll work from Az from the monday before Christmas to the day before Christmas. Then we’ll stay through *maybe* the first week of January. Depending on whether Yahoo can deal with Chris working remotely that long. So we’ll spend some time with friends and our family (who we miss so MUCH!).. we’ll also be driving up north the weekend after Christmas to take the girls on that Polar Express train in Williams. We’ll stay overnight in Flagstaff and then find some snow the next morning to play in.. MAYBE, if the weather is agreeable, we’ll even go home via Sedona and stop to show the girls where mommy and daddy got married.

Then we’ll celebrate New Years and get ready to head into 2010, which promises so many big changes. I just can’t wait. Admittedly it makes it hard to focus on the ‘now’ when the ‘then’ is so exciting.

Girls are great! We’re still playing around with bedtimes since they seem to want to stay up late and goof-off no matter what we do or who we put to bed first.. I’ve toyed around with the idea of putting Cate to bed in our bed and then transferring her when Grace is asleep but that just sets up a bad habit I think. We’ve done very well keeping them in their own beds from day one (or rather, a bassinett or packnplay and THEN their own beds..hehe) and I’m not sure we want to get her used to sleeping in our bed. Plus, then that is one less room we have to spread out in and sometimes? Chris and I? We need our space. So.. we’re back to square one. With putting Cate to bed first and then Grace after Cate is asleep. We have to threaten Grace with losing Bo if she wakes Cate up though. Worked last night. I guess we’ll see tonight.
