Going crazy since 2004…

Woohoo!

We got the ok from the apartment complex so we could potentially move to another complex owned by the same company, without being still responsible for this apartment.

It’s crazy to think about moving. Really. After all, we’re planning on moving again (uh, permanently) next summer.. But part of that plan coming to life is saving as much $$$$$ as possible. The rental market here in the last year has gone down some, but we’re still paying the highly inflated amount. And I’m climbing a million stairs just to get to and from our tiny apartment. There is NOTHING near by to walk to! And I’d like to be able to walk to places. Not even a park. Not even a coffee shop.

So we’re going to be in a rush this weekend to take some tours of other prometheus properties in the area. Granted, apartments suck. We don’t want to live in some crappy apartment. But if we can save $500-700 a month that will get us that much closer to our goal for next year, then we’re all for it!

I’m already mentally cleaning out cupboards and donating stuff to charity to streamline our junk once again. One thing that living in a small apartment has taught me is that if I haven’t touched in 6 months or more, chances are I can do without it altogether. Granted, there are exceptions. Like my big stand mixer (although come to think of it I’ve used it a couple times in the past 6 months, so I guess going by my rule then it would get to stay anyway). We’re constantly reorganizing our priorities to decide what is absolutely important enough to keep and what do we never use that we don’t need.

We recently realized that our dvd’s fall into this category. We never ever crack open a case that doesn’t belong to our children. Now, like I said there are exceptions: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix.. the sets of things that we love. But the random movies that we really never watch? Not so necessary.

So I will keep posted. In the meantime, does anyone want a slightly used George Foremen grill?

Yeah..

I got nothin’.

I just really am having a hard time getting enthused for blogging. I feel like I should. But.. nah, nothing.

We’re spending a lot of time out at the pool and a ton of time at the park. One thing I’ve realized is that if I keep the girls busy 90% of the time, not only do I get less arguments and fights, but I also get naps out of Grace (who technically “stopped” napping like 6 mos ago) and they go to bed fairly easily. Plus, they’re more willing to eat what I pack when we go out anywhere… so things like carrot sticks and snap peas and whatnot get eaten when it’s all there is! Mwuhahaha! Evil mom laugh!

Chris and I have gotten a firm game plan for the next year. Not concrete, but firm. We still need to be flexible because right now, it’s all financial. And please, go ahead and hope with us, that Yahoo’s stock shoots through the roof in the next 3 months and we’ll be THAT much more ahead! It’ll be awesome!

Excuse me, is this your giant elephant?

This blog. I’ve been skirting around it for months. I lost that blogging feeling. For me it was my great white elephant in the internet that I just didn’t talk about. I’m still wondering what on earth I can write about. After all, now I’m on Twitter and Facebook. Ok, not so much Twitter as Facebook. But I do READ the updates on Twitter, even if I don’t post a whole lot. So how to do all three without being really repetitive? And I won’t give up Facebook. I enjoy those damned games on there too much. I mean, really, where else can you spend hours a day on a Farm pretending that you’re planting, plowing and decorating?

See what I did? I tried to get the attention away from the fact that this is only my second post in what? 6 months? I don’t even know.

And I’ll admit that it’s not like I don’t have time. Oh these girls keep me busy, don’t want to confuse you about that. But I don’t do much after their bedtime but spend time online. Or read. Or sleep. But mostly I spend time online.

I used to keep notes about things to blog about, taking pictures and planning what to write based on them. But shh! Don’t tell anyone but I’ve gotten really bad about taking pictures too. Mostly because I found when I’m too busy trying to take pictures of the girls (and don’t worry, I’m still getting the camera out at least a couple times a month) I’m not able to get into the moment I’m trying to capture.

Otherwise, don’t worry. You all haven’t missed much of our lives. The girls continue to be hysterical. The things they do and say just crack me up all the time. The other day Cate picked up two quarters of her grilled cheese sandwich and tried to channel Alex Graham Bell by talking into one and putting the other to her ear. Grace is constantly coming up with some crazy logic or joke or just saying things that you have to take a minute, stop what you’re doing and laugh.

Well I had a ton of stuff written.. promise. Unfortunately I had to go grab a snack and while I was gone Grace erased most of it. Not going to write it again.

Have a great weekend!
