Woohoo!
Saturday, July 25th, 2009We got the ok from the apartment complex so we could potentially move to another complex owned by the same company, without being still responsible for this apartment.
It’s crazy to think about moving. Really. After all, we’re planning on moving again (uh, permanently) next summer.. But part of that plan coming to life is saving as much $$$$$ as possible. The rental market here in the last year has gone down some, but we’re still paying the highly inflated amount. And I’m climbing a million stairs just to get to and from our tiny apartment. There is NOTHING near by to walk to! And I’d like to be able to walk to places. Not even a park. Not even a coffee shop.
So we’re going to be in a rush this weekend to take some tours of other prometheus properties in the area. Granted, apartments suck. We don’t want to live in some crappy apartment. But if we can save $500-700 a month that will get us that much closer to our goal for next year, then we’re all for it!
I’m already mentally cleaning out cupboards and donating stuff to charity to streamline our junk once again. One thing that living in a small apartment has taught me is that if I haven’t touched in 6 months or more, chances are I can do without it altogether. Granted, there are exceptions. Like my big stand mixer (although come to think of it I’ve used it a couple times in the past 6 months, so I guess going by my rule then it would get to stay anyway). We’re constantly reorganizing our priorities to decide what is absolutely important enough to keep and what do we never use that we don’t need.
We recently realized that our dvd’s fall into this category. We never ever crack open a case that doesn’t belong to our children. Now, like I said there are exceptions: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix.. the sets of things that we love. But the random movies that we really never watch? Not so necessary.
So I will keep posted. In the meantime, does anyone want a slightly used George Foremen grill?
