We’ll be coming back..

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

I’ve had some questions about our plans for this next month. I’ll be coming back to Phx sometime around the 17th or 18th (feeling a bit homesick for everyone so I’m making a long trip). I’ll be there through probably May 2nd or 3rd. Chris won’t be there until Thursday evening, April 27th. He leaves to come home on May 1st (evening). So I’ll have lots of time to see everyone. If you want to make plans, let me know! I’m totally open at this point and can’t wait to see you all.

The horror…oh the horror!

My daughter grinds her teeth.. You’ve never heard a more annoying sound..like nails. On. A. Chalkboard….

Today..sucked

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

It was one of those days where you put off half of what you needed to get done until the second day of the weekend thinking, “I’ll have plenty of time”…. And then..something on the first day doesn’t go quite right.

So, we need side tables for the living room. The majority of the wires for cable, internet, etc. are in the living room. Behind the couch. Almost. So Grace knows that all she has to do is shimmy her way back there and it’s cable city. Think about it.

So to solve that problem, we thought..we’ll get side tables and she won’t even be able to get back there at all! Plus..we needed lighting in there anyway since there is no ceiling fan with light at all. The nearest light is in the dining room..bright, but not bright enough.  So we go to Crate and Barrel.. great stuff, not overly expensive..compared to Pottery Barn anyway. And we found what we wanted, yesterday at 5:30 p.m. right before we were to head home since Grace was getting fussy from a day of Babies R Us. But they didn’t have the tables we wanted, or the lamps. The nearest one was nearly 30 minutes away. Okay then. After thinking about it, we realize that they are pretty perfect for what we want and we decide to go ahead and go get it today. But Coco had a grooming appointment at 9am and Chris went mountain biking. So we didn’t get going until about noon. So we got back just in time for Grace to fight us tooth and nail on whether she was going to take an afternoon nap. She won. Then Chris installed the microwave over the oven so that I could have my countertop back. But that took us well into the evening/dinnertime/bedtime portion of the evening. So now that Grace is down for the evening and we’ve been fed..I could easily get back to what I wanted to do earlier which is clean the floors with this neat floor cleaner for wooden floors..and do some more laundry..and clean the kitchen..but all I want to do is take a long bath and soak with a book.. hmm..tough choice….

On Demand..Helping me to be just a little more demanding.. One cartoon at a time..

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

We have On Demand. Cable.. Which is SWEET. Comcast here, which is our cable/internet company has On Demand..so we got it. It’s basically a way to watch a selection of shows anytime you want. Everything from selections from The Food Network to HGTV to PBS. It’s great..I can put the previously blogged-about Boobah on for Grace anytime I want.

Anyway, I was looking for something to put on for her while I put her in her packnplay and I go take a shower.. And I found.. SMURFS! Who remembers them?? Children today have no clue.. They’re cartoons are so complex.. But it takes me back to a time when we had things like Looney Tunes, Smurfs, Rainbow Brite, He-Man (and She-ra…I think that was it..). The Jetsons, Flinstones, etc. Saturday mornings with a bowl of cereal (that you poured yourself because you were up at the early hour of 6 to watch them and your parents just wanted to sleep in FOR ONCE). Sigh.. what a blast from the past..

What was your favorite Saturday morning show as a child? I’d love to hear some others…

This makes me wish I was still nursing..
